AC Schnitzer shows tuning for BMW i4 for the first time

Aachen-based aftermarket specialist, AC Schnitzer, showcased its array of tuning parts for the new fully-electric BMW i4 saloon.

While the tuner is widely known for giving BMWs and Minis extra oomph by fiddling with their engines, it’s a different story with the i4 due to its fully-electric nature. Instead, AC Schnitzer has resorted to tweaking the aesthetics and suspension only. Better than nothing, indeed.

With that said, the suspension components consist of new springs that bring the i4 a tad closer to the ground. The front-end sits 20 mm lower, while the rear is dropped by 25 mm. This should hone the i4’s dynamic prowess. Other tweaks include a front-splitter with an M aerodynamic package, a small roof spoiler, a carbon-fibre rear spoiler, as well as winglets attached above the taillights.

The AC Schnitzer-tuned BMW i4 is available with two-wheel designs. The first is a five-spoke design painted in black and silver, or, should buyers choose, all black. The second wheel option gets silver-anthracite or plain anthracite.

Moving inside, there are subtle changes. You get the tuner’s aluminium pedals, footrest, iDrive cover plus a unique key holder.

The BMW i4 arrived in South Africa a few months ago, only in M50 guise and with a price tag of R1,6 million. It wields an 83.9 kWh battery pack that allows it to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds before hitting the limiter at 225 km/h.

The i40 M50 features dual motors, each mounted on an axle to deliver a total power output of 400 kW, and 795 Nm of torque. It can travel up to a claimed 510-kilometre distance before the batteries run out of power.
