ABT gives Audi RS3 body-building supplements
The current Audi RS3 remains the ultimate hatch in the A3 stable whilst firing with a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine with 294 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque.
The engine can wail to the 7,000 r/min mark while shuffling through a 7-speed DCT transmission that channels power to all four paws, therefore, giving the hot hatch a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3.8 seconds.
As if this wasn't enough, ABT Sportsline has given the yet-to-be-launched RS3 Sportback body-building supplements, thus hiking the power figures to 338 kW and 368 kW with 600 Nm. Called the ABT RS3-R, only 200 units of the Sportback will be made.
The power bump has helped shave off 0.5 seconds from the 3.8-second sprint to 3.3 seconds. An extensive aero package and ABT intercooler support these figures, in addition to the obligatory ABT engine control unit.
Owners of the ABT RS3-R can raise the standard limited top speed to 300 km/h with the new myABT app for Apple and Android devices. This option can be booked free of charge.
The engine note comes from two ABT double-end pipes with a 95-millimetre diameter made of matt black stainless steel. Buyers who wish to fit an adjustable suspension can do so as an option. This includes a V3 height-adjustable suspension in stainless steel with a lowering range of 20-40 mm at the front and rear axles. The rebound and bump can be adjusted separately.
Regarding the aero package, it adds visible high-gloss carbon to the front lip, mirror caps, rear skirt insert, and spoiler. The ABT RS3-R rides on 20" forged wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport R rubbers.
Moving inside, the RS3-R gets refined seats with ABT and RS3-R logos as well as an emblem badge with the inscription 'ABT RS3-R 1/200' and inscribed door sills. Other tweaks include ABT-integrated entry lights with the ABT logo, floor mats with the RS3-R logo, and an ABT start-stop-switch-cap.
The new Audi RS3 is scheduled to arrive in Mzansi in Q3 in both sedan and Sportback guises.
