All-new Range Rover Sport priced for SA
Revealed in May this year, Land Rover has revealed the pricing for its sportier Range Rover Sport, which will be available to order in SA from October 2022.
Like the newly-launched Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport will be built at the Solihull Manufacturing Facility situated in the UK. As its name suggests, it boasts a sportier look and a completely different rear-end compared to the standard models we've detailed here.
The entire range consists of 10 variants. You have a choice of four engines that include an extended range electric hybrid, or a 6-cylinder Ingenium petrol or diesel. Plus, there's an all-new V8 twin turbo engine on offer.
The range will be joined by a fully-electric variant in 2024, as reported earlier.
Speaking of engine options, the base D350 employs a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that churns out 258 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque. This is enough to send the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The P400 variant, on the other hand, has a mild-hybrid straight-six Ingenium turbopetrol with 294 kW and 550 Nm of torque. It completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds.
As the sole plug-in hybrid model in the range, the new P510e houses a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder, hybridised engine good for a total power output of 375 kW and 700 Nm of torque. The hybrid allows the RR to travel up to 113 km before the 38.2 kWh battery pack runs out of charge. With the 105 kW electric motor, the P510e hurtles from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
Performance aficionados will be happy to hear that the P530 with a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8 engine is also part of the range. This engine makes 390 kW and 750 Nm of torque enough to blister the SUV from 0-100 km/h in a slight 4.5 seconds.
All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
As a reminder, the Dynamic S trim comes with Premium LED headlights, 20" alloy wheels, wireless device charging with phone signal booster, grained leather seats, and a 3D Surround Camera system as standard.
The Dynamic SE features Pixel LED headlights, 21" alloys, and perforated Windsor leather seats. The Dynamic HSE further adds Digital LED headlights, 22" wheels, and perforated semi-aniline leather upholstery.
The Autobiography comes with a unique combination of 22" Diamond Turned wheels with a satin dark grey finish, a black contrast roof with sliding panoramic sunroof.
