Aston Unleashes Power and Elegance with Some Help From AMG
The new DB12, dubbed the 'Super Tourer,' is coming in hot with 500 kW of AMG power,
Aston Martin is a brand that encapsulates the British motoring spirit. It is one of the leading sports car manufacturers in the UK and is known for its amazing soundtracks and luxury interior. Being the car of choice in the James Bond franchise due to its charming aura, Aston Martin models are classy and authentic in their design. Although the new one might have a German heart, it looks more British than ever.
Aston Martin is rather proud of their newest model, which they teased earlier this year, and now we have a closer look into what Aston Martin claims to be "the most complete and accomplished DB model", the DB12. Its successor, the DB11, led us to believe the new DB12 would sport the same V12 motor, especially considering its name.
Aston has announced that their new model will be powered by a newly-refined 4.0-litre AMG V8, pushing out 500 kW and 800 Nm of torque, making this new V8 30% more potent than the previous DB11 V8. It also runs 30 kW stronger than the DB11 V12. It's also paired with an 8-speed automatic box and will sprint to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach terminal velocity at 325 km/h.
The DB12 has a next-generation adaptive suspension and stiffer sway bars to complement how much power this car can put down. The three driving modes available in the vehicle are GT, Sports and Sports+. They have ensured that even in Sports+, the car will be comfortable, claiming the ride quality will provide "sublime yet agile cruising". Creating what could be considered the world's first Super Tourer.
The new DB12 will have a familiar yet highly revised shape, with the signature Aston Martin front grille design complemented by the stunningly aggressive headlights. The front splitter adds aggression by providing the front end with a complete yet elegant look. The flush door handles allow for a smooth side profile which blends into the tail. The Back end is particularly long and is designed to decrease drag whilst maintaining a smooth, elegant look with the rear LEDs shaping around the rear lip.
Of course, the interior is one of the highlights of this vehicle, being covered in Alcantara leather and proclaiming British luxury. The DB12 has a digital driver's display and infotainment screen, with the functionality of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 3d Nav maps.
The new DB12 by Aston Martin is impressive in appearance and performance, thanks to its new AMG engine. While I am pleased that it features an AMG V8, claiming it to be the "World's First Super Tourer" considering other cars like the McLaren GT... Well, that may be a stretch.
