Bentley Bentayga Hybrid breaks cover with improved range
Like most vehicle manufacturers, Bentley plans to electrify its entire range by 2025. That's three years from now.
With that said, the Crewe-based automaker is expanding its Bentayga range with the introduction of hybrid models, thus making 50% of Bentley's range now available with a hybridised powerplant.
Sold in two variants, S and Azure, the Bentayga duo packs a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine paired with a 100 kW electric motor-generator powered by an 18 kWh battery pack that gives the SUVs up to 43 km of full-electric driving range. With the hybrid setup, the duo now makes 340 kW and 700 Nm which enables them to hurtle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds before maxing out at 254 km/h.
Speaking of the performance-focused Bentayga S Hybrid, this variant features the Blackline treatment which swaps black detailing for polished metal on all bright ware on the outside. It sits on distinctive 22" wheels that are home to red-painted brake callipers. To make up for its sporty look, the rear gets a speed-style tailgate spoiler, dark tinted rear lights plus black split oval tailpipes.
The interior is fitted with a nubbed finish of Dinamica, 'performance' design dials, a PHEV power meter; fluted seating and 'S' emblems on the fascia, illuminated treadplates and headrests.
The Bentayga Azure Hybrid, on the other hand, has a different character and focuses more on luxury than sportiness, thanks to front seat comfort specifications which add up to 22-way adjustability and a heating and ventilation function. The interior can be customised in 15 different coloured leather options and three wood trim treatments; Dark Walnut, Crown-Cut Walnut, and Koa.
There's still no word on local availability and pricing at this stage.
