Bentley ups the luxury bar with its Bentayga Atelier Edition

Nobody cares about colours quite like British luxury brands, and Bentley returns the Mulliner legacy colours for a special edition Bentayga.

Bentley ups the luxury bar with its Bentayga Atelier Edition

When it comes to luxury vehicles, two British manufacturers lead the way by quite a margin. Rolls Royce and Bentley are two names everybody is familiar with, and when it comes to personalisation, the spec sheet is nearly endless. To ensure the Bentley Bentayga's refreshed look is desirable among its special edition clients, the brand has returned its iconic Mulliner Legacy colour palette with a few elegant aesthetic touches.

When it comes to building a work of art over a generic production vehicle, it is imperative that clients have the option for exclusivity. The Bentayga is one of the few near-perfect luxury cars available in the modern market, and its new and refreshed look is actually rather uncomplicated. As for the car's physical silhouette, not much has changed, and it's all in the finer details.

Before we touch on the return of the brand's iconic paint palette, there are new touches worth mentioning. The Atelier Edition wing vent, unique grille treatment, 22-inch 10-spoke wheels with tungsten pockets, and Hallmark Satin bumper valances conclude the exterior touches and add a subtle change that only the most avid Bentley enthusiast could point out.

The interior too has seen its time under the chisel, with the addition of headrest brand tags, Atelier Edition tread plates, and a single elongated diamond design to complement its Harmony Diamond seat quilting. Even a new animated welcome light sequence highlights the exclusivity of Atelier Editions. All intricate touches are designed to highlight the bespoke, handcrafted nature of each Atelier model.

But the biggest news around this special edition is the paintwork. First introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show during the launch of the third-generation Continental GT, the Atelier colour palette further highlights the car's exterior design. Light Onyx, Rubino, Porcelain, Quartzite, and Light Emerald fall under the Atelier name, and the sixth colour to join the collection is Obsidian Crystal. These colours are all intended to enhance individual vehicle personalisation, while Quartzite is positioned as the brand's dynamic colour and is aimed at the brand's S-range vehicles.

In the luxury game, exclusivity is just as important as quality. And although these additions might make a British luxury purist tingle with excitement, for the average lover of burning petrol, these additions might seem a touch underwhelming, particularly for a vehicle of this status. Nevertheless, it is a stunning car, and only a handful of customers will venture into the world of high-rolling special edition Bentleys.
