BMW M4 gets more desirable with CS, M3 Competition Touring priced.
For many people, BMW's M cars represent the true passion that lies behind our love for driving. The excitement and joy that each M car brings are almost unparalleled. BMW has successfully transformed an M into a more definitive M car, as seen with its CS, and we have some local insight into this exciting announcement.
Although the M4 CSL has been available for some time, it remains a pipe dream for the average owner. However, BMW will now offer a middle-of-the-road (in terms of extreme Ms) alternative for M4 users who just want something extra out of their car. The M4 CS will join the likes of the M3 CS, which was released last year and is likely to be unveiled in the coming months.
Beemer's M4 CS is likely to be a more track-focused variation of the standard M4 and M4 Comp, meaning that this new track machine will be lighter, louder, and more aggressive, while restraining these details to not overpower the famed CSL. The CS will produce slightly more power from the S58 engine, to the tune of 405kW and 650Nm. Pair this with the car's diet plan, and it will do a 3.4-second 0-100km/h time.
We can also expect the CS to run an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it is unlikely to come in a manual variation. More advanced suspension, braces, and chassis work should stiffen up the handling dynamics to make the M4 CS a missile around the corners.
It will also look a lot more aggressive, but not so much as to challenge the CSL in terms of sharp aesthetics. If the CS arrives locally, the units will likely be special orders and extremely scarce. If speculations are correct, the M4 CS should be unveiled as soon as testing on the Nürburgring has been concluded, meaning sales should begin towards the end of 2024 and into early 2025.
The M4 Competition starts at R2,150,000, and the addition of the CS package will add a further R900,000 to the equation, meaning the M4 CS will come in at R3,050,000. With only 25 units confirmed for the Mzansi market, the M4 CS will be an exclusive addition to the already-bonkers BMW M lineup. Unfortunately, no official images of the M4 CS have been released, but the CSL is a good benchmark for expectations; just don't expect the CS to look as mental as the beast named the CSL.
Now, a slightly different vehicle, which we have been eagerly waiting for, has finally been given a local price tag. The M3 Touring has caused a heck of a ruckus, and it has been generally well-received. The M3 Touring will produce 390kW and 650Nm with a 0-100km/h time of just 3.6 seconds. As far as pricing is concerned, the M3 Comp xDrive Touring will come in at R2,195,000. Considering that the standard M3 Competition xDrive will cost you R2,098,002, an extra R100k for a unique and aggressive Beemer unlike any other is an almost justified expense.
We are one step closer to seeing this beautiful car on our roads, as it looks increasingly likely to launch before the end of the year. It is an exciting time for BMW, especially for local enthusiasts and you expect to see this model at this year's M Fest in October where we can also expect some 50 other model updates.
