BMW presents 1000 RR motorbike to mark 50 Years of M
BMW M is marking its 50th anniversary with the introduction of the M 1000 RR 50 Years M anniversary model in limited numbers for the local market.
Finished in the Sao Paulo Yellow hue it shares with the current BMW M4, the RR is fitted with the M Motorsport Competition Package as standard as well as 50 Years of M insignia. As a higher-end evolution of the formidable S 1000 RR, the special RR features carbon fibre wheels, a lighter swingarm in silver anodised aluminium, a GPS-based data logger, and a lightweight lithium-ion battery.
There is a taller windscreen and several billet-aluminium and carbon-fibre bits and pieces.
It’s all about the magic power-to-weight
Its motivation comes from an in-line four-cylinder petrol engine with 156 kW and 113 Nm of torque. It hurtles from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds before maxing out at 300 km/h while shifting through a 6-speed manual transmission.
With a kerb weight of 191 kg, it has an 817 kW/ton ratio.

The M 1000 RR 50 Years M anniversary model will be available in South Africa, in very limited numbers, from the fourth quarter of 2022.
