BMW X3 gets M Performance kit
BMW has only recently unveiled its fourth-generation X3, which, based on early impressions, is expected to set new standards when it arrives in South Africa before the end of the year. Although unverified speculations suggest that the new X3 range may not include the potent M variant, buyers can find solace in the availability of the newly announced M Performance kit.
While many agree that the X3 in its M Sport and M Sport Package Pro configurations exudes style, the M Performance kit elevates its aesthetic appeal to a new level. Despite the M Performance name, the pack won't include any mechanical performance enhancements. It does, though, have performance-adjacent styling bits like a sleek M splitter (a first for the X3), a high-gloss black front ornamental grille, side decals in Frozen Black, and an M Performance Carbon fuel filler cap adorned with M Performance lettering on brushed aluminium to, well, look fast at least. Other aesthetic enhancements include M carbon exterior mirror caps, an aramid aerial cover, an M Performance rear diffuser, an M Performance roof edge spoiler, and M Performance tailpipe trims.
It doesn’t end there. The kit also includes weight-optimised 22-inch light-alloy wheels in a bi-colour jetblack matte finish, and for those who prefer a slightly smaller option, 20-inch M Performance Y-spoke wheels are also available. Another cool offering that we find fascinating is the inclusion of M Performance tyre bags to store extra wheel sets.
The interior is equally impressive, featuring M Performance Carbon door sills, M aluminium door sill trims, a stainless steel M Performance pedal cover, M Performance floor mats, and an M Performance locking button in black anodised aluminium with a coloured M logo. Also, the M Performance key case combines Alcantara and carbon-look leather for an elegant touch.
As a refresher, the BMW X3 will be built at the brand’s plant in Rosslyn. The local range will likely consist of the 20d xDrive, the 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid, and the M50 xDrive, which will serve as the flagship model in the range, assuming the X3 M is discontinued.
