Brabus creates 900 XLP ‘One of Ten’ with 662 kW
Just in case you are wondering, this isn’t some kind of déjà vu happening here. So far this year, Brabus has showcased its two bespoke creations in the form of the 800 XLP Superblack and 800 XLP Superwhite that wield serious supercar-like powers.
They were all recently joined by a 669 kW-wielding E63 S super-saloon and the German tuning firm’s latest product isn’t something to disregard.
Enter the new Brabus 900 XLP ‘One of Ten’ that is based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63. The Brabus 900 XLP houses a V8 that has seen a capacity increase from 4.0-litre to 4.5-litre to deliver a chaotic 662 kW or 900 horses hence the 900 designation. The torque figures are rated at 1,250 Nm but Brabus has limited that to 1,050 Nm to spare the drivetrain from excessive mechanical strain.

The serious upgrades to the powerplant come courtesy of two Brabus turbochargers. The behemoth accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds en route to a capped top speed of 210 km/h while shifting through a 9-speed automatic transmission.
More power needs to look the part
Boasting a completely revamped look, the Brabus 900 XLP ‘One of Ten’ is fitted with brand new 22” Monoblock Z HD forged wheels that have been designed for maximum heavy-duty off-road usage. They boast Gunmetal Black finish plus a striking red pinstripe.
Its unique character is further enhanced with carbon fibre elements around the chassis, heavy-duty front cable winch, roof rack and exposed carbon fibre wind deflector with four auxiliary LEDs.
The interior spawns a Mondial Black leather design, Brabus seashell diamond quilting and perforations throughout the cabin including the seats, trim elements and footwells. The leather is adorned with ‘Jet Black’ piping and matching black stitching while the Rocket Red finish is applied on over 206 individual cockpit elements such as trim panels, handles, switches, speaker covers and air vents.
For it to have an off-road appeal, Brabus has increased the ground clearance by 49 cm, thanks to portal axles. The body has been widened by a generous 11.6 cm with the overall length of the car growing to 5.3 m.
As its name suggests, only ten units of the Brabus 900 XLP will be built and each is slapped with a R11,050,947 price tag if you convert €658,625 at the current exchange rate without import duties.
