Everrati's Porsche 911 ST: An Electric Icon Porsche Never Built
The last time something like this happened was when the folks at Charge Cars revealed their final production version of its electric 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, which definitely caught our attention.
Boasting a total power output of 400 kW and a colossal 1,106 Nm of torque, the electric Mustang is undoubtedly something that we at TopGear SA itch to drive, even if the thought of an electric Mustang makes us emotionally confused.
An Icon Reimagined
Back to the subject at hand, the redefined and electrified Porsche 911 ST built by Everrati, and it's definitely a convincing concept as far as the best-of-both-worlds idea is concerned... Heritage, efficiency... What's not to love?
Suppose the Everrati nameplate doesn't ring a bell. In that case, it's the same firm that has converted the classic Range Rover Classic, Mercedes-Benz W113 SL Pagoda, and the Shelby GT40 MKII into fully-electric models.
The conversion captures the essence of the limited-run racing vehicle that inspired it and delivers superior performance that even ICE-powered cars of today would struggle to match.
Everrati swapped the internal combustion engine for an EV powerplant that consists of an OEM-grade 62 kWh battery pack and battery management system with electric motors capable of pumping out 328 kW of power to the rear axle via a limited-slip differential. When it comes to handling, it should handle similarly to the old car or even better, thanks to an improved centre of gravity due to the battery pack's positioning.
By comparison, that's 128 kW more than what was produced by the original 911 ST racer that lasted from 1970 to 1971. According to Everrati, the redefined 911 ST classic combines AC, DC charging and regenerative braking capabilities and can travel more than 320 km on a single charge.
As for the optional features, it comes fitted with air conditioning, power steering, Apple CarPlay, TracTrive suspension, heated front seats and full navigation.
Hope For Classics
The redefined 911 ST, built at Everrati's global headquarters in Oxfordshire, represents a promising future for classic vehicles once the combustion engine has been fully phased out. It gives hope that we may one day see a fully-electric Volkswagen Beetle.
