Ferrari SA Gets New Distributor
Looking at the history of Scuderia South Africa, the distributing company was founded in 1973 by former racing driver and Ferrari enthusiast, Vic Duggan, who's been instrumental in bringing the brand to SA.
In 2008, the supercar brand was bought by Ferrari collectors and entrepreneurs, Mervyn Eagles and Paolo Cavalieri, who expanded the local network by establishing dealerships in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Umhlanga.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Smartgrowth Investments Proprietary Limited officially announced its purchase of all the group's equity with André Rossouw as the Chief Executive Officer.
The two groups concluded negotiations, which began in November 2022, regarding the takeover of shares from the company's previous shareholders.
Rossouw brings with him extensive experience, having served in several senior management roles in the luxury sports car business over the past 15 years.
"These certainly are exciting times for Ferrari in South Africa and we look forward to supporting this amazing brand under the new ownership structure," commented André Rossouw, Chief Executive Officer at Scuderia South Africa.
Scuderia Ferrari South Africa is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the brand announced that we can expect the debut of its two new models, the Purosangue and Roma Spider, in the fourth quarter of the year.
Data from Naamsa suggests that Scuderia SA sold 31 Ferraris in the first seven months of the year — a remarkable achievement for a marque often influenced by economic shifts and consumer confidence.
With Rossouw at the helm, Scuderia SA is poised to achieve even more astounding heights in the future.
