Flagship Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max launches in SA
The folks at Chery are expanding their local range by introducing the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro Max, which the Chinese marque regards as a 1st birthday gift to its customers.
Unlike the Tiggo 8 Pro, powered by a 1.6-litre TGDI engine, the Pro Max packs a new 2.0-litre TGDI unit paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox which, according to Chery has a quicker shift response and enhanced fuel consumption.
The engine channels 187 kW of power and 390 Nm of torque to the front wheels giving it a sprint time of 7.3 seconds from 0-100 km/h.
Aesthetically, the changes are subtle. There is a slightly reworked front fascia, while the rear now boasts a tweaked bumper that incorporates four exhaust tips, two on each side.
Besides that, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max builds on the specifications of the Executive model, such as adaptive cruise control, multi-colour ambient lighting, Chery voice control, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3” digital instrument panel, a 10,25” infotainment touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus an 8” touch screen for the dual-zone climate control.
The Tiggo 8 Pro Max adds privacy glass to the rear passenger compartment while upgrading the windscreen and front side windows to thicker sound-dampening glass. It also has a black leather interior instead of the Executive’s dark tan-coloured upholstery.
Electrically-adjustable driver and passenger seats are standard, as well as an 8-speaker Sony sound system and a wireless charging pad.
As for the safety systems, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes standard with a Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Emergency Braking Assistance, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Monitoring.
Priced at R629,900, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes with a 7-year/90,000 km service plan and a 1,000,000-kilometre warranty.
