After months of patiently waiting, the price of the 8th iteration of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has finally been revealed.
The new Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI has been slapped with a R669,300 price tag and will go on sale in South Africa from the 1st of September 2021.
Powering the new Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI is a 2.0-litre TSI unit that spurts out 180 kW of power and 370 Nm of torque. A reasonable 11 kW more than what its predecessor makes.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the front wheels enabling the hot hatch to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
The new Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI is equipped with 18” Richmond alloy wheels, LED headlights plus a vision package.
Other standard features include Climatronic air conditioning, a 10.25” multi-colour InnoVision cockpit, cruise control, parking sensors, 30-colour ambient lighting, heated leather-wrapped sports steering wheel and “GTI Vienna” leather seats.
Offered as options is a Black styling package that adds black 18” Bergamo alloy wheels. Features such as mechanically swiveling trailer hitch, LED matrix headlamps, head-up display, a smoker’s package, 19” Adelaide alloys plus Harman Kardon sound system also come as options.
Volkswagen also offers the Discover Pro audio system that incorporates sat-nav, wireless App-Connect and voice control as options.
Active safety features include a parallel parking assistant, rear assist with a rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist, adaptive cruise control as well as autonomous emergency braking.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI comes standard with a 3-year/120,000 km warranty, 5-year/ 90,000 km EasyDrive Service Plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. The service interval is 15,000 km.
