GWM's Haval H6 GT receives a minor update
In 2022, GWM Haval introduced the H6 GT to the local market. Its stunningly good looks and exceptional handling made it an immediate hit. Now, two years later, Haval is introducing a facelift to keep it competitive in the increasingly popular coupe-SUV segment.
On the outside, the H6 GT features a refreshed look, thanks to reworked LED headlights and rearlights with darkened clusters. The same stunning design continues in the form of aero side skirts, carbon-fibre inserts, and 19-inch alloy wheels in gloss black.
The interior is still the same, but Haval says it has fitted new sporty seats with Alcantara-trimmed seats and integrated voice command for enhanced comfort. A 12.3-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, dual-zone air conditioning, and a wireless charging pad further complement these.
The facelifted H6 GT now features four driving modes: Eco, Sport, Off-Road, and Race. Ideally, we are hoping for a dedicated drive mode selector rather than having to access the driving modes through the central display.
Power still comes from the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 155kW and 325Nm, which delivered impressive and lively shove. It shuffles through a 7-speed DCT transmission plus a 4WD system.
On the safety front, the H6 GT comes standard with adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assistance, lane keep assist, a 360-degree HD camera system, and pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
Priced at R662,250, the H6 GT commands a R32,300 premium over the pre-facelift model launched in 2022. While the improvements may not be extensive, they clearly serve to keep the model fresh and competitive in the market. We just hope that the brand has addressed some of the issues we encountered in the pre-facelift model.
