Honda Civic Type R power figures revealed. Finally.
When the Honda Civic Type R debuted in July of this year, it left us speculating on its power output figures. However, we knew, even at the time, that it should house a more potent and responsive 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The enhanced 6-speed manual transmission is a bonus.
This time around, Honda has revealed the power outputs of the new Civic Type R. Under its bonnet lives a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that fires at 235 kW and 420 Nm at the front wheels via the aforementioned 6-speed gearbox. By comparison, that's 7 kW and 20 Nm more than its forebear.

The engine enhancement comes courtesy of a reworked turbocharger, increased air intake flow-rate, as well as a more efficient exhaust system.
Although Honda hasn't shared the Civic Type R's sprint times, it should be quicker off the line than its predecessor. If you remember, the pre-production model lapped the Suzuka Circuit in 2:23.120, breaking the record for front-wheel-drive vehicles.
In the looks department, the new Civic Type R possess a longer and wider stance for improved aerodynamics. Other features include a sporty honeycomb grille, more prominent front fender grilles, a new side sill design, and lightweight 19" black alloy wheels wrapped in bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubbers.
Honda says the wheels make use of a special 'reverse rim' design that works hard to improve the stability of the tyre contact patch under heavy loads.

Saddling inside, it gets performance-orientated details such as red seats, carpet and trim, and a serialised Type R plate mounted on the dash.
The new Civic Type R is built at the Yorii plant in Japan, while the tweaked K20C1 engine will continue to be made at the brand's Anna Engine Plant in Sidney, Ohio.
