Honda Elevate Makes Official Debut in India
The Honda Elevate has been eagerly awaited after spy shots of the sub-compact SUV surfaced from India and Japan.
It has finally made its debut in India, and looking at its dimensions, it’s close in size to the HR-V that competes in the sub-compact SUV segment in Mzansi. It boasts a length of 4,312 mm, a width of 1,790 mm and a height of 1,650 mm, making it a margin smaller than the HR-V.
Outside, it wears the brand’s maturity recipe with a striking front fascia consisting of the brand’s signature grille, sharp character lines, sleek LED headlights, and a unique rear design that features a distinctive tailgate design and LED rear lights.
It rides on a set of two-tone finish diamond-cut 17” alloys.
The interior combines a contrast of brown and black with buttons and switches kept to a minimum. Taking centre stage is a large 10” touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB and Bluetooth connections. The driver’s display consists of a 7” high-definition TFT screen.
With 458 litres of boot space, it offers a larger boot space than that offered by the HR-V, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which are its closest rivals.
Motivation comes from the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the HR-V with 89 kW and 145 Nm sent to the front axle via a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission. A hybridised unit is rumoured to join the range.
Honda offers features such as an electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charger and 12-volt power outlet.
The Elevate is exclusively being launched in the Indian market for now, with the carmaker hoping to eventually introduce it to the global market. It is a compact SUV with a spacious cabin and a range of features to make it stand out. Honda SA, however, says there are no immediate plans to bring it to Mzansi.
