Lamborghini Revuelto: Lambo's First V12 Electrified Supercar
Aside from the somewhat difficult-to-pronounce name, the first thing to know about the new Lamborghini Revuelto is that it's being positioned as the brand's new flagship model to eventually replace the Aventador, which has ruled the roost for the past decade.
Unveiled at the brand's headquarters, the Revuelto is the first V12 plug-in hybrid HPEV super sports car that packs three electric motors plus a 6.5-litre V12 powerplant beating at its heart.
The setup pumps out 745 kW of power and 725 Nm sent to all four corners via a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that blasts the sports car from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds en route to a top speed of over 350 km/h. While the Italian marque doesn't mention the EV range, the three electric motors are fed power by a lithium-ion high-specific power battery pack rated at 3.8 kWh mounted into the central tunnel for a better centre of gravity.
On the design front, the Revuelto debuts a fresh new design in the form of the new Space Race design language that adapts to the unique challenges imposed by electrification. It features headlight clusters with Y-shape daytime running lights; the theme is also applied to the rear light clusters.
The rear has double hexagonal exhaust tips and a geometrically profiled wing. The Revuelto sits on special Bridgestone Potenza Sport rubbers that measure 265/35 R20 at the front and bigger 345/30 R21 at the back for added traction.
As for the interior, Lamborghini says it's been influenced by the 'feel like a pilot' philosophy, thanks to the all-new futuristic design, a pronounced carbon-fibre profile, a 'space-ship' sign that has the central air vents and the 8.4" touchscreen.
In front of the driver is a 12.3" digital cockpit, while the passenger can view the same info as the driver on the 9.1" display on the passenger-side dashboard. The Essenza SCV12 track-only sports car has inspired the multi-function steering wheel.
Lamborghini says 400 body shades are available with many more personalization options per the client's requirements. The brand will launch the Revuelto in overseas markets before the end of the year. Local availability is yet to be confirmed.
