Land Rover Defender 130 Gets V8 Unit and Outbound Model
The Land Rover Defender in 90 and 110 body styles is a reliable and sturdy SUV that can easily handle rugged terrains. Its performance in this aspect remains unchanged, making it a great option for those seeking a solid vehicle with storied off-road capabilities.
The British marque is always trying to find ways to make the range more appealing and relevant in its respective segment. That said, the brand premiered a bigger, 7-seater 130 variant in 2022, and at that time, no V8 was on the cards.
Now, Land Rover is introducing a new Defender 130 Outbound and a V8 variant. The V8 model packs a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that pumps out 368 kW and 610 Nm, enabling the behemoth to blister from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
Aesthetically, the V8 is available exclusively in Carpathian Grey or Santorini Black shades with quad-mounted exhaust tips, a sliding panoramic roof with black contrast roof, V8 exterior badging, Matrix LED headlights, darkened tail lights, riding on 22” Satin Dark Grey alloys.
The Defender 130 Outbound, on the other hand, is only available as a 5-seater, and it’s more suited for those who want to explore active and adventurous lifestyles.
It distinguishes itself from the rest of the range with unique design enhancements such as a shadow atlas matt finish to the bumpers and grille insert, side vents finished in Anthracite, and 20” wheels painted in gloss black.
You can specify 22” wheels finished in Shadow Atlas Matt. The Outbound is available in Fuji White, Santorini Black, Carpathian Grey and Eiger Grey colour palette. The interior comes fitted with full Windsor leather or durable Resist fabric finished in Ebony.
Powering the Defender 130 Outbound is a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 290 kW and 550 Nm.
The 110, on the other hand, is getting a new County Exterior Pack that adds more personalisation to the SUV. These come in County graphics on the doors and body sides, illuminated treadplates with unique County insignias and 20” alloys in two finishes.
Based on the 110 SE derivative, the model is available in various colour combinations.
Land Rover SA says order books for the models are now open, and it plans to introduce the trio towards the end of 2023.
The new Defender pays forward the off-road capabilities that the iconic Defender models of the olden days were known for. The new ones do it well while packing all the much-needed modern technology to help owners surpass their everyday needs.
