Land Rover Defender Octa teased
Set to become the most capable, toughest and most luxurious model in the Defender range, the Land Rover team is poised to unveil a model they call the Octa that is earmarked to arrive before the end of 2024.
At this stage, details surrounding the Defender Octa are sparse, but what the British marque mentions is that it will pack a V8 twin-turbo mild-hybrid petrol engine. This will be supplemented by 6D dynamics air suspension on a Defender model for the first time.
For reference sake, the current Defender V8 in 90 and 110 guises makes use of a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine with 386kW and 625Nm. Anticipating the upcoming Octa model, we may well expect it to surpass the current V8 in terms of performance, although exact details are yet to be confirmed by Land Rover.
Aesthetically, it comes wearing a new encircled diamond graphic, a gloss black diamond graphic within a machined and sandblasted titanium disc on each Signature Graphic panel. From what we can see on the teaser images, there is a set of off-road tyres that are home to gold-painted Brembo brakes.
At this stage, the Land Rover Defender Octa is undergoing extensive testing in Sweden, Dubai, Nürburgring and the Moab rock trails. While the regular Defender with its superb V8 powerhouse is strong, sublime and special, the Octa, in comparison, promises to be an extraordinary spectacle.
