Local specification for VW Taigo released
Volkswagen has confirmed the local specifications of its new Taigo crossover that slots between the T-Cross and T-Roc models.
As the first coupe in its respective segment, the Volkswagen Taigo has a ground clearance of 137 mm, a wheelbase of 2,566 mm, a height of 1,515 mm and a 1,757 mm width. It joins the market segment in three trim levels; Life, Style and R-Line. LED lighting technology is offered as standard in the Style and R-Line while the entire range can only be had in eight exterior shades; two solid paints, five metallic finishes and a sole pearl effect hue.
All body colours of the new Taigo can be combined with a contrasting black roof. The wheel sizes range from 16” to 18” alloy wheels. Volkswagen offers IQ. Light LED matrix headlights as standard on the Taigo Style and R-Line models.
What’s the VW Taigo’s interior like?
As standard, the former is fitted with a digital cockpit while the Style and R-Line boast the Digital Cockpit Pro with the new generation of infotainment systems.
Buyers have the choice to choose from three different infotainment systems; a Composition Colour with with a 6.5” display in the Life variant, an 8” display in the Style and R-Line or an optional Discovery Media of the same size. Offered as standard in the Style and R-Line is the two-zone climatronic air conditioning with a new, digitised mode of operation.
The seats in the Taigo Life are upholstered in Slash/Stoff fabric; the matching interior décor is known as Lava Stone Black. Equipment such as a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, trailer hitch, keyless entry, 17” Bangalore alloy wheels, Comfort Package Driver Assistance Package, heated front seats, inductive mobile charging and Discover Media can be fitted optionally in the Life model.
The question of power
Furthermore, the Style and R-Line variants come with a host of standard and optional features.
Powering the range is a sole 1.0-litre TSI engine with 85 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. A 0-100 km/h sprint is dispatched in 11.3 seconds.
The Taigo comes standard with a three-year/120,000 km warranty, three-year/ 45,000 km EasyDrive Service Plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. Service intervals are scheduled at 15,000 km.
