Locally-Built VW Polo Vivo GT Enhanced
The current generation Volkswagen Polo Vivo GT has been on sale in South Africa since 2018, and five years later, the German carmaker is giving the locally-built model a fresh new look for the 2023 model year.
Sitting at the top of the Vivo stable, the refreshed GT features 17” Mirabeau wheels, Life and Vision Package and a single pipe exhaust finished in chrome trim as standard. Other enhancements outside include silver mirror caps, GT rear decal, wheels and dash inserts, and GT decals on the front door.
The interior has also received a makeover in the form of front sport seats, aluminium-look pedals, anthracite headlining, cruise control, a black tailgate spoiler and a suspension that has been lowered by 15 mm.
The cloth inserts and stitch shades have been changed from blue to red, while the gear lever and handbrake get new grey stitching for a much more added appeal. The Polo Vivo GT can be had in five exterior hues, including the new Wild Cherry Red metallic.
Motivation comes from an unchanged 1.0-litre TSI engine that shoves 81 kW and 200 Nm to the front axle via a 6-speed manual transmission.
Priced at R322,800, it comes standard with a 3-year/120,000 km warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. Buyers can opt for the EasyDrive Maintenance Plan and EasyDrive Service Plan for an extra fee.
The locally-built Polo Vivo remains an essential model in the VW SA range and a much-preferred vehicle for first-time car buyers and anyone looking for an efficient runaround car. Since the introduction of the second generation in 2018, VW SA has sold about 120,000 units of the Vivo, which says a lot.
