It is now clear that the current generation BMW M2 is slowly getting a replacement now that the prototypes of the new M2 have been seen undergoing testing.
As a manner of giving the current BMW M2 a proper send-off, a German aftermarket specialist by the name of Manhart Performance has transformed the M2 Competition for proper track abuse.
Dubbed MH2 630, the tuned M2 Competition soldiers on with the S55 Bi-Turbo in-line six-cylinder engine but with more power. It now makes 469 kW (630 hp hence the MH2 630 designation) and 750 Nm of torque over the stock model’s 302 kW and 550 Nm.
The new performance figures aren’t mentioned but judging by the power boost, we can expect a significant drop from the standard car’s 4.2 seconds sprint to 100 km/h.
This was achievable through the use of Manhart’s Turbo Performance Kit and a CSF intercooler. The tuning firm also added a stainless steel exhaust system with valve control which flows into four 90 mm carbon tailpipes at the back.
For enhanced cacophony, the MH2 630 boasts downpipes without catalytic convertors while a brake system borrowed from the M4 GT4 helps stop the car. The system consists of 380 mm discs on the front and stock BMW M2 Comp brakes at the back.
The suspension comes courtesy of a three-way Clubsport coil-over suspension from KW. The MH2 630 rides on 19” wheels with 265/35 front and 295/30 rear Michelin tyres. Other exterior features include a front spoiler, side skirt attachments from the M Performance range that are made from carbon.
Covering the engine is a bonnet made from Schmiedmann aluminium plus a massive rear wing that’s borrowed from the M235i racing.
To make it a proper track machine, the rear seats have been ditched in favour of a full roll cage. This also serves to fasten the Schroth Motorsport harnesses with which the occupants strap themselves into their Recaro Sportster CS seats.
Manhart’s MH2 630 also features carbon shift paddles, a carbon kit for the centre console, an Awron auxiliary display and Manhart floor mats.
The pricing for the MH2 630 has not been released but we know it doesn’t come cheap.
