Maserati to continue to build GEN4 Formula E cars
Maserati remains committed to partaking in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship following its recent announcement that it will continue to build the GEN4 generation of cars that will be used to compete in Season 13 in 2026 and 2027.
As a refresher, the ABB FIA Formula E is a championship for electric cars founded to promote sustainability and EV technology. The series consists of single-seater, open-wheel cars completely powered by electricity.
For the GEN4 single-seaters, Maserati says this will allow it to have more room for development. Regarding the cars, Maserati mentions that they will pack a significant increase in performance with ‘GEN3 EVO’, achieving an output of up to 350kW, engaging four-wheel-drive at full power for enhanced traction, and being able to recover up to 600kW of energy thus making them even more capable on the track.
The GEN4 generation of cars slated to partake in Season 13 will feature even more improvements than before, thanks to a four-wheel drive system, a more potent powertrain enough to accelerate the car from 0-100km/h in 1.8 seconds, 36 per cent faster than the previous model.
“We are extremely proud to continue our commitment to as prestigious and innovative platform as Formula E. For this brand, the bond between the track and the road is unbreakable and the evolution of the single-seaters shows how many possibilities for the development of electric mobility holds. We will continue to draw major developments from the races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, to transfer them into our 100% electric range that now consists of the Grecale Folgore SUV, the iconic GranTurismo Folgore and the GranCabrio Folgore convertible”, says Santo Ficili, Maserati CEO.
Maserati is looking forward to competing with these new GEN4 cars, carrying on its proud racing tradition until 2030.
