McLaren honours Queen Elizabeth II
McLaren Automotive is paying homage to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, for her 70-year reign with the premiere of an exclusive Jubilee platinum paint colour and a special Platinum McLaren badge.
Courtesy of McLaren Special Operations, the reveal happens exactly 18 years since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened McLaren’s global headquarters in Woking, the brand’s Technology Centre. The bespoke shade, as well as a special badge, have been revealed on a one-off example of the high-performance hybrid supercar that carries the Artura nameplate.
To make sure the brand comes up with the perfect shade, McLaren worked together with its advanced coating partner AkzoNobel which analysed different lighting conditions to define the most suitable metallic pigment combination.
It took eight days for the paint developers to complete durability and application testing and the results are astonishing.
“It has been an honour for MSO to create a new platinum paint in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year. This special paint, which will be available for customers to select for years to come, will be a fitting tribute to mark this historic milestone,” said Ansar Ali, Managing Director of McLaren Special Operations.
Queen Elizabeth II is known for rolling around in perfect style in luxurious cars such as the Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet and bespoke Bentleys.
