Mitsubishi Triton GLX Limited Edition Adds Value
Although often overlooked among bakkies, the Mitsubishi Triton maintains an unassuming underdog character, consistently offering excellent value.
Even though the Triton has been getting on in years, it is still one of the best bang-for-buck bakkies on the market. Mitsubishi is hard at work on the sixth generation, which will appear in July 2024, with major improvements over the current model.
Until the new Triton arrives, Mitsubishi is introducing a Triton GLX 4x2 Limited Edition model that comes equipped with a host of features for an additional R10,000 over the GL variant. These include a black Triton low nudge bar, a black Keko Sport bar, a Keko tonneau cover, a GL double-tube tow bar, a tailgate lock, and a Sony Carplay and Android Auto system.
Offered only in 4x2 guise with a 6-speed manual transmission, everything has been carried over, including the tried and tested 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 100kW and 324Nm of torque.
The Triton GLX Limited Edition also employs a limited-slip differential, a rigid ladder frame chassis, double wishbones, coil springs up front, and a robust leaf spring rear suspension construction at the rear.
As for safety features, it features ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors, a high-impact safety structure, and airbags for the driver and front passenger as standard.
Priced at R529,990, the Mitsubishi Triton GLX Limited Edition is covered by a 3-year/100,000km manufacturer’s warranty as standard, a 5-year/90,000km service plan and 5-year/unlimited kilometres roadside assistance.
The Mitsubishi Triton is a seasoned veteran in the bakkie fold and a steal for anyone looking for a reliable and affordable product. The Limited Edition version breathes new life into the bakkie, overhauling its charm and appeal.
