New SA-bound Range Rover priced

From making a global debut before the end of 2021, to making a local brief appearance, the fifth-generation Range Rover has finally been slapped with a price tag. 

Before we address the pricing, it is worth talking about the the derivatives. The new Range Rover is available with four, five or seven-seat guises with standard and long wheelbase designs. 

The trim levels consist of HSE, Autobiography and range-topping SV. Bespoke First Edition models based on the Autobiography will be available throughout the first year of the production cycle and will only be available in Sunset Gold Satin finish among a choice of five other exterior colours. 

Motivation comes courtesy of six and eight-cylinder powerplants as well as a new Extended Range PHEV; D350, P510e and P530. Sitting on top of the range is the P530 variant that features a BMW M50i-sourced twin-turbo V8 engine with 390 kW and 750 Nm good to catapult the behemoth to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds en route to a top speed of 250 km/h. 

The D350 employs a 3.0-litre straight-six turbodiesel engine that churns out 257 kW and 700 Nm of torque and propels the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The Extended Range P510e PHEV model employs an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine with 375 kW and an electric motor that adds an additional 105 kW. A 38.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides up to 113 km of pure electric driving range.

The new Land Rover Range Rover boasts with an 8-speed ZF and a twin-speed gearbox with low-range ratios for towing or off-road driving. 

It will be launched in South Africa towards the middle of 2022 with all Land Rover vehicles coming with standard five-year/100,000 km Land Rover Care Warranty and Maintenance Plans.
