Next-gen Ford Mustang teased
Lately, Ford has been hard at work fine-tuning its 7th generation Mustang and judging by the test mules the internet has provided us with, we expect it to undergo a significant overhaul.
The good thing, though, is that the days of us speculating are slowly coming to an end since Ford expects to debut the pony on 14 September at the Detroit Motor Show.
Ford has done a great job so far of keeping details about the new Mustang under tight wraps; however, we know it'll be codenamed S650. In terms of power, we expect a slightly potent 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine for other markets as well as a tweaked V8 powerplant. Yes, that sounds like a V8 in the teaser.
With that said, we don't completely rule out the idea of a hybridised variant forming part of the range as much as electrification is becoming a serious topic of discussion. Other than that, we expect a 6-speed manual and the current 10-speed automatic transmissions to soldier on. For the Mzansi market, though, the range will continue to feature the latter paired with the V8 mill.
Ford launched the new Mustang in South Africa in 2015 and a subtle refresh was introduced in 2019. According to reports, the new Mustang should have an eight-year life-cycle with performance variants added throughout.
As reported earlier, the new Ford Mustang will debut on 14 September, but for now, enjoy the teaser's brutal V8 soundtrack.
