Omoda expands line-up with entry-level C5 Street model
Omoda is making its C5 even more attainable with the introduction of the Street variant. Like its peers, the Street variant packs some seriously appealing factors, such as a competitive price tag, impressive warranty, smart interior, and futuristic look, despite its positioning as an entry-level model.
The C5 Street does win some points when you look at the standard equipment list and is priced at R329,900, R35,000 less than what Omoda asks for its C5 Style variant.
Like most cars of Chinese origins, the C5 Street is packed with an impressive list of standard tech that you’d often pay extra for in European brands. That said, it comes fitted with black cloth-trimmed sports front seats with 6-way manual adjustment, automatic climate control, and a 4-way adjustable steering wheel. Other features include rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, cruise control, keyless entry, and a push-start button.
Similar to its counterparts in the lineup, there are dual 10.25-inch screens and a 4-speaker sound system as standard. Despite being entry-level, it comes with LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights, 17-inch wheels, and a choice of four exterior colours.
Power comes from the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that sends 83kW and 138Nm to the front wheels via the same less-inspiring CVT gearbox. Nothing here is out of the norm, meaning we still expect the same driving dynamics as the models we have sampled before.
In terms of safety, it ships standard with an ESC system, dual front airbags, front side airbags, a speed limit reminder, and ISOFIX anchorage points.
Even as an entry-level variant, the C5 Street impresses with the list of standard features and remains a comfortable and practical choice for drivers who value both style and convenience.
It comes standard with a 2-year/25,000km service plan, a 5-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, and a 10-year/1,000,000km engine warranty.
