Pagani unveils bespoke Huayra Codalunga
Italian sports car maker Pagani has revealed its new bespoke creation in the form of the Huayra Codalunga which is based on the standard coupe model.
Designed by Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni specialist vehicles division, the Huayra Codalunga was built after a request from two Pagani collectors who wanted a longtail version that evoked some of the most iconic design cues of the olden days.
According to Pagani, it took two years of working closely with the client to finalise the styling concept. Two models were built, one at 1:4 scale and the other a full-size version, used for the latest considerations with clients and last refinements.
As for the colours and materials used, they recall the cars of the 1960s, thanks to the exterior paint that blends into the cockpit elements while structural parts retain their exposed carbon fibre finish. The Huayra Codalunga further features neutral colours and semi-matte or fully matte paints, to evoke the shades of the past and to bring out the simplicity of the car’s design.
The interior gets seats finished with woven leather/nubuck upholstery and aluminium components machined from a single block.
Sitting underneath the elongated engine cover is the brand’s V12 engine with 617 kW and 1,100 Nm of torque. Despite its increased length, the Huayra Codalunga tips the scales at 1,280 kg which is less than the standard Huayra at 1,350 kg.
The lack of rear grilles makes space for an unobstructed view of the Codalunga’s exhaust system, which is made from titanium and weighs only 4.4 kg.
Production of the Pagani Huayra Codalunga is capped at just five tailor-made examples, all sold out, with prices starting from $7.4m which is nearly R119,000,000. Ouch.
