Rimac's Record Reign Continues
Rimac is a hot topic here at TopGear SA, as this engineering marvel seems untouchable by other hypercar manufacturers. First, it set a monumental list of acceleration and braking records a few months back, and now it has set what is arguably the most impressive record at the Hillclimb this past weekend.
Every manufacturer dreams of making headlines at the Goodwood FOS, and the 1,247kW, 2,360Nm Rimac Nevera has done it again; no surprise there. It shocked the competition with a spectacular run up the hill. The Festival of Speed is one of the world's most widely covered motoring festivals, with endless cars to discuss, so it takes a special car to stand out at Goodwood.
The hill climb is the weekend highlight, with various classic, iconic, and modern-day masterpieces racing up the hill. It displays new and old and serves as a yardstick to see just how far we've come in terms of vehicle engineering and racing.
This year, the Rimac set an impressive new Hillclimb record for production vehicles with a time of 49.32 seconds. The outright record still belongs to the McMurtry Spéirling, a car that is not road legal, which set an astonishing time of 39.08 in 2022.
