Garnering its influence from the 911 and 911 Carrera RS 2.7 of the olden days, Porsche has premiered its 911 Sport Classic model from its Heritage Design strategy.

First things first. Purists will rejoice to note that the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic wields a 7-speed manual transmission thus making it the most powerful manual 911 available today. Its motivation comes from a 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six powerplant that gushes out 405 kW sent entirely to the rear axle.

The manual transmission is fitted with an auto-blip function that compensates for engine-speed differences between the gears with a brief burst of revs when shifting down. Tailored specially for the 911 Sport Classic is the standard sports exhaust system for a more emotive sound experience.

The exterior of the 911 Sport Classic features a wide body that is further complemented by a fixed rear spoiler in the style of the iconic ‘ducktail’ fitted in the Carrera RS 2.7 as well as a double-bubble roof. The Sport Classic is the first model to wear the exclusive Sport Grey Metallic shade and can also be painted in solid black, Agate Grey Metallic, Gentian Blue Metallic or Paint to Sample.

There are twin stripes on the bonnet, roof and rear spoiler in light Sports Grey.

The interior features the legendary Pepita pattern on the door panels and seat centres as well as two-tone semi-aniline leather upholstery in black/classic cognac.

Exclusive to buyers of the 911 Sport Classic is a high-quality chronograph by Porsche Design which seamlessly picks up on numerous details from the vehicle.

Underneath, the 911 Sport Classic rides on a similar suspension setup to that of the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS models and is fitted standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management with sports suspension which lowers the ride height by 10 mm. It runs on 20” alloy wheels in the front and 21” at the back.

Porsche will only build a total of 1,250 examples of the limited-edition model and local availability hasn’t been confirmed.
