Subaru Teases its Facelifted BRZ
The updated design of the Subaru BRZ is impressive, maintaining the distinctive style of the previous model. However, in keeping up with the ever-evolving industry, Subaru is ready to unveil its updated BRZ following Toyota's new 2024 GR86 launch nearly a year ago. Despite their similarities, the 86 and BRZ have always had a devoted following in the motoring community.
The 2024 BRZ is set to be revealed at the Subiefest in California this coming weekend. From the teaser images, we can see that there will now be red BRZ motifs incorporated into the headlights, and we expect it to have an optional performance package. This would result in beefed-up braking power with 4-piston Brembo brakes in the front and 2-piston brakes in the rear, both finished in the traditional red hue.
Sachs dampers will also be added to improve ride quality and minimise body roll, not that it's really an issue in the outgoing model. Furthermore, it's worth pondering if the BRZ will have a model like the Trueno, the special edition version of the GR86.
One of the more notable mentions from Subaru in the past few months has been the addition of Eyesight to its manual vehicles. The BRZ will most likely come equipped with Subaru's impressive safety systems but purists can rest easy knowing that most safety features can be disabled.
The pressing question for us in South Africa is whether we will receive the updated BRZ. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to bring the BRZ to SA. It would have been interesting to see just how the BRZ compares to its SA-available sister car. The best we can do for now, though, is cross our fingers.
