The BMW M4 CSL gets a dose of G-Power.
Motoring enthusiasts bring a diverse love to the automotive world, with many falling into two groups: the tuners and the purists. So when BMW unveiled its latest wickedly quick saloon, we assumed that, out of the box, it was pretty much perfect. Yet, there is one company that goes above and beyond, providing tuners with a consistently tested power gain that will be limited to a maximum of 1,000 units, owing to the fact that there are only 1,000 M4 CSLs.
Upgrades to the engine, exhaust, and boost will now be available for the G4M CSLs, enabling a total output of 529kW and 850Nm. This power is found through full exhaust work to allow the powerhouse to breathe more efficiently, and ECU work allows for the mechanics to intricately play with the timing and boost.
To give you an idea of the power increase, the standard M4 CSL, which is wicked fast as is, delivers 400kW and 650Nm. An increase of 129kW is quite substantial, and with a new top speed of 330km/h, it's faster at the top end with a 23km/h increase.
They offer a variety of carbon fibre accessories to complement the monstrous-sounding inline six, many of which come standard with the modification. These include 20–21-inch Hurricane forged wheels, a carbon bonnet, a carbon wing, G-Power badges and carpets, and what the tuning company calls a ‘G-Power’ identity package to ensure your CSL doesn’t blend in.
Although some drivers would cringe at such a car, speed freaks happen to like these modifications. Unfortunately, a performance increase of this magnitude does come with a hefty price of R700,000. So if you had the money, would you turn your Tasmanian devil into a fire-breathing monster?
