The Jaguar F-Pace was introduced in 2016 as the carmaker’s attempt to enter the SUV fraternity and for the 2021 model year, the British marque is introducing the refreshed model to the local market.
The new Jaguar F-Pace is now available in South Africa and comes equipped with new engine options, a tweaked interior and the latest-gen Pivi Pro infotainment systems.
The exterior is fitted with a more pronounced look, thanks to a new sculpted bonnet, enlarged grille, side fenders that feature the Leaper insignia as well as reworked air intakes and dark mesh detailing. The front features new slim all-LED quad headlights with the iconic ‘Double J’ daytime running lights. The headlights can be fitted with Pixel LED technology as an option.
The entire range of the refreshed Jaguar F-Pace comes standard with Premium LED technology that also features Auto High Beam Assist on SE and HSE models. Dynamic indicators can be fitted optionally. Borrowed from the I-Pace are slimline taillights with Jaguar’s double chicane graphic. The rear bumper has been redesigned as well as the tailgate. The new Jaguar F-Pace is available with the Black Exterior Pack.
Inside, the interior is new and boasts a centrally-mounted 11.4” curved-glass HD Pivi Pro touchscreen, new finishes including open-pore wood veneers and aluminium. According to Jaguar, the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system is three times brighter and 48% larger than the one in the outgoing model. The system allows Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard. The F-Pace also features a 12.3” HD Interactive Driver Display.
For the local market, the new Jaguar F-Pace is available in two diesel and three petrol engine options. The powertrains are paired with all-wheel-drive systems plus 8-speed automatic transmissions.
The diesel models include the D200 with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine with 147 kW and 430 Nm while the D300 employs a 3.0-litre six-pot diesel engine with 221 kW and 700 Nm and hurtles from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
The petrol variants come courtesy of a P250, P400 and P400e. The P250 makes use of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with 184 kW and 365 Nm. It dashes from zero to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The P400 features a new 3.0-litre 6-cyl petrol unit that includes a mild-hybrid system with 294 kW and 550 Nm that’s good for a 5.4 second sprint to 100 km/h.
The P400e boasts a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid with a combined 297 kW and 640 Nm from its petrol engine and 105 kW electric motor. Electric power is provided by a 17.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that boasts a 53 km electric driving range. Getting the battery recharged from a 32 kW DC fast charging facility will ensure a 0 to 80% charge in less than one hour and 40 minutes.
The new Jaguar F-Pace can be had with the R-Dynamic Black package that adds gloss black finish on the door mirror caps, grille, grille surround, side window surrounds, fender vents, emblem, rear valance and rear badges. The 20” ‘Style 1067’ wheels also get the gloss black finishing while also housing red brake callipers.
As an option, the F-Pace can be fitted with roof rails in gloss black and a panoramic roof. The R-Dynamic Black is available in the entire fleet of hues.
