Toyota Connect Makes Your Car a Hotspot and More
If you've ever been cruising along in your car and wished you could get online surfing the web and share that connection with other devices in the car - you aren't alone. You can do this with smartphones and other devices, but that tends to drain a phone's battery. Toyota, though, has a service called Toyota Connect that does this without having to rely on another device in the car.
How does it work?
The MyToyota app acts as the central nervous system for Toyota Connect and allows digital access to the vehicle, anywhere and at any time. It is through this point that the driver can access important vehicle information, manage data and configure and set up certain services. Once activated, the app connects the vehicle with the driver's everyday life. At any time and from anywhere, the driver can call up real-time information about the vehicle and keep an eye on the fuel level, range, service appointments, and warning messages.
From a connected point of view, the driver can access in-car Wi-Fi – including 15GB of free data as a once-off activation. Thereafter, customers can easily top up using Toyota Connect or their banking Apps.
Regarding convenience, the Service Booking feature reminds customers when their vehicles are due for servicing, factoring in all the back-end elements when you book directly on the App.
The Logbook facility automatically saves a digital log of your vehicle's mileage and service history for tax-submission purposes, including auto-allocation for work and home, as well as business and personal trips. The GPS locator gives you peace of mind, enabling you to find your vehicle easily and get an overview of your trips.
Added safety.
As far as safety aspects are concerned, there's Roadside Assistance with impact detection – meaning that drivers have real-time support with AA-access 24/7. The Battery Health Check reflects the real-time status of the customer vehicle's battery health, while the Driver Score feature encourages safer driving. On this interface, drivers can review their driver rating and keep track of their scores and overall driver behaviour
Toyota Connect is also available for small and medium fleet owners. Known as MyToyota Fleet Lite, the platform allows SME owners with more than one vehicle – and up to 50 – to enjoy the benefits of the Connected car experience that includes Wi-Fi.
