Toyota GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute Premieres
The Toyota GR Supra GT4 is one formidable race car that has won 11 national and international championships since its first full racing season in 2020.
As a racing car primarily designed for customer racing, Toyota Gazoo Racing has produced 100 units of the GR Supra GT4. To celebrate the milestone, the Japanese marque is introducing its GT4 100th Edition Tribute variant based on the manual-wielding GR Supra road car.
Motorsport Connection
To emphasise its linkage to motorsport, the GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute has an optional rear spoiler similar to the one fitted in the racer. It wears an exclusive new Plasma Orange shade complemented by new 19" lightweight matte black alloy wheels that house GR-branded black callipers.
The interior, on the other hand, is pretty much similar to the regular model but adds some features to make it stand out from the crowd, such as black suede-like seat covers, a suede gear knob and orange stitching on the boot mat that matches with the exterior paint of the car.
To remind occupants of where they are, it gets a carbon insert on the dash with the 'GT4 100th Edition Tribute' graphic and a panel on the driver's side of the dash.
Different Yet The Same
Mechanically, the GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute soldiers on as is with its 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 250 kW and 500 Nm of torque channelled through to the rear axle via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The folks at GR also fiddled with the suspension to optimise performance with a manual transmission, courtesy of a more rigid vulcanised rubber in the front and rear anti-roll bar bushes, retuned shock absorbers, plus the adjustment of components and operating parameters in the electric power steering.
Missing In Action
The GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute is a rare gem for only the European market, where Toyota will make a mere 100 units for the lucky few. Unfortunately, those of us in SA must settle for the standard GR Supra models. But then again, looks and seat covers don't make the car... We're not missing out on much here.
