Toyota Hilux Range Bolstered with Extra Features, Boosting Its Appeal
Following the introduction of the Corolla Cross GR-S Hybrid last week, Toyota has announced that its popular Hilux range is getting extra features for the 2023 model year.
As a start, the Xtra Cab Legend variants now include Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which adds the likes of the Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Alert. Also, the exterior mirrors now feature the welcome light as seen in the double-cab Legend models.
The Hilux Legend double-cabs all get the same specification level, including the 4x2 variants that previously didn’t have the JBL audio system.
The trim level alignment now sees the model getting the power-adjustable driver seat, leather interior, Toyota Safety Sense, JBL premium 9-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, Smart Entry System and raised body for the automatic models.
The latter in Raider and Legend guises now gets an automatic transmission temperature warning.
The single cab models soldier on with the existing colour palette, while the Xtra and Double cab models can be had in Platinum White or Attitude Black for the double cab. Buyers can select the Sand Beige shade, available in limited production numbers for all three body configurations.
The Hilux remains the best-selling bakkie in SA, and the specifications adjustment further gives it added appeal. In February, Toyota sold 11,560 vehicles, of which 3,631 were Hilux models. Despite its ageing platform, that alone proves how much South Africans love the bakkie.
