Tuned Nissan Navara has a GT-R engine at heart
From what we’d regard as a once-humble bakkie, to becoming one of the most potent Navaras to ever be made, thanks to SB Motorsport Ltd.
The folks at the UK-based firm beefed up a normal Nissan Navara and the results are astonishing. The tuned Nissan Navara is simply called the Navara-R and in case you are wondering, it packs a 4.1-litre V6 engine sourced from the Nissan GT-R.
Known as the VR41, this is the same 3.8-litre unit that powers the ‘Godzilla’ with an increased displacement that’s good for 745 kW. Power is sent to all four its paws via a bespoke dual-clutch transmission made by a company called Dodson Motorsport.
Besides the beefier cosmetics, the Navara-R features a redesigned suspension which makes use of the GT-R’s subframes with KW V4 Racing Coilover Suspension and HLS 4 hydraulic lift system. The road patches come courtesy of custom BBS 20” wheels that house RC6 and RC4 Alcon brakes.
As for the interior, it remains standard but gets a new Kenwood infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. SB Motorsport doesn’t make mention of performance figures but surely 745 kW should transform the bakkie into something considerably faster off the line than the standard variant.
