VW Golf 8 GTI Jacara Edition is now in SA as an affordable option
The Volkswagen Golf bearing the iconic three-letter GTI nameplate remains an absolute wonder of Mzansi, thanks to its impeccable street cred, stonking performance and just… fun.
It recently entered its 8th iteration, and for a price tag of R733,200, you get a Golf GTI that wields a 2.0-litre TSI engine that pumps out 180 KW and 370 Nm of torque shoved to the front axle via a 7-speed DSG transmission.
It's fitted with excellent features such as a 10.25" multi-colour InnoVision cockpit, a panoramic sunroof, LED matrix headlights, a Harman Kardon sound system, plus GTI Vienna leather seats, to name a few.
Leather seats have always been standard with every GTI model in Mzansi. Now, VW SA is introducing a slightly more affordable Golf 8 GTI version that comes fitted with Clark Plaid Jacara fabric seats with a check pattern design. The design was produced by Gunhild Liljequist, the first woman to work in the brand's design department.
Sold for R16,700 less when compared to the GTI model with a leather seat option, it is now available at VW dealers at a price of R716,500.
The Golf GTI comes standard with a 3-year/120,000km warranty, a 5-year/90,000 km EasyDrive Service Plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. The service interval is 15,000 km.
