VW Golf R 333 Limited Edition Teased
It's a shame that the 2014 Dieselgate scandal resulted in the loss of some truly remarkable vehicles that would have still been held in high esteem by car enthusiasts.
If you recall, the Golf R400 nameplate never reached production due to the emission scandal, and that was curtains...
Surprisingly, VW recently took to YouTube to tease its new Golf R Limited Edition model, which bears the 333 insignia, and according to the video, the ultimate R model will debut on May 31.
So far, VW has been keeping information regarding the R 333 under tight wraps, but the short video showcases the model wearing a yellow exterior hue that is further complemented by blue 'R' emblems on the front fenders as well as black side decals featuring the '333' logo plus four Akrapovic exhaust tips.
It ends there, but as is often the case with manufacturers naming their limited edition vehicles as per the amount of power output, the 333 could refer to the PS or PferdStarke in German or 245 kW when converted.
Now that it makes sense, you will recall that the Golf R 20 Years Edition, which debuted in 2022 to celebrate two decades of the R performance division, packed 245 kW and 420 Nm from the same EA 888 2.0-litre TSI engine - that's 10 kW and 20 Nm more than what the regular Golf R makes.
Performance details remain coy at this stage, but it will likely complete the 0-100 km/h at the same 4.6 seconds as the 20 Years Edition.
More details are expected to emerge on May 31 when the Golf R 333 makes its official debut, and it will likely be offered in minimal numbers across the globe.
