Zenvo Aurora: A Hypercar That Blends Hybrid Power and Style

Remember Zenvo, the Danish automaker famous for its bespoke and personalised vehicles such as the ST1 and TSR-S models?

Well, the brand has taken the wraps off its newest edition, dubbed Aurora, which is the first hybrid model in its history books and is set to write a new chapter for the brand.

Sold in two variants, the grand-touring Agil and track-focused Tur, Zenvo plans to build only 50 units of each model.

Speaking of what matters most, the Aurora packs a quad-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 engine from Mahle Powertrain, based in the UK. With a hybrid system in place, the total system output produced by the Tur model is 1,379kW and an earth-shaking 1,700Nm all sent to all fours.

Compared to the Tur, which is powered by two electric motors, the Agil makes use of one that is nestled within the gearbox for a combined output of 1,081kW and a mental 1,400Nm sent to the rear axle.

Performance? Besides the huge difference in power outputs, both models are absolutely bonkers. The RWD Agil, for instance, dashes from 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds before hitting VMax at 365km/h, while the Tur blasts to the 100km/h mark in 2.3 seconds before maxing out at 450km/h. Gee!

Both models use a complex transmission. A hybridised 7-speed single-shaft gearbox replaces the conventional starter motor with an electric reverse and engine start, increasing efficiency by 15%.

With the body made from carbon composite panels, the Agil and Tur weigh 1,300kg and 1,450kg, respectively, due to the extra electric motors.

Housed within a set of 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the back are Zenvo carbon ceramic discs.

Aesthetically, the pair can be differentiated by a large wing in the case of the Agil, while the Tur features a cleaner shape. However, the duo comes fitted with a flowing, aerodynamically led chassis design that channels airflow under and through the structure.

Zenvo hasn’t shared any details regarding the interior, but we can spot a multi-functional steering wheel, a small infotainment system on the left, a massive speedometer, as well as a combination of what looks like leather and carbon fibre.

The new Zenvo Aurora guns for the Rimac Nevera, Koenigsegg Regera, and Bugatti Chiron, and it’s interesting to see that the Danish carmaker still has faith in the internal combustion engine despite the growing trend of full-fat EVs.

As for the pricing, it starts at about $2.83 million, which translates to roughly R54 million at the current exchange rate. Production of the Zenvo Aurora is set to begin in 2025, with the first deliveries earmarked for 2026.
