Ford E-Transit Custom: The details so far
Set to challenge the Mercedes-Benz eVito within the EV van fold, Ford has shared details of its new fully-electric E-Transit Custom.
As a significant step toward electrification, the E-Transit forms part of Ford’s Pro commercial division which seeks to introduce four all-electric commercial vehicles by the year 2024. In line with typical electric car designs, the fully-electric van features a sealed front grille, fully-redesigned LED headlights, a charging port on the side plus ‘E’ insignia on the grille.
The E-Transit has been designed from the ground up and will be supported by Ford Pro software, charging, service and financing solutions via one comprehensive platform to help increase uptime and reduce operating costs.
“Ford says it will have a range of up to 380 km”
While significant details pertaining to the E-Transit Custom remain under wraps, Ford says it will have a range of up to 380 km with DC fast-charging and full towing capability. It will reportedly have sophisticated connectivity to enable 'always-on relationships'.
The van will feature an unmatched customer experience, ProPower Onboard technology to power tools, lights and other gadgets all while helping on-site, according to Ford.
The all-electric E-Transit Custom will enter production in the second half of 2023 and more product details will be released in September this year. All Transit Custom variants will be built by Ford Otosan – Ford’s joint venture in Turkey at their Kocaeli site.
