Rimac Nevera undergoes final winter testing

The cold weather testing process was an opportunity to put the final 0.1% of polish on the Nevera.

It should be only a matter of months before the limited-edition Rimac Nevera is delivered to its customers throughout the world.

As is the case with every marque that rigorously test prototypes before they officially go into production, the fully-electric sports car has now completed two intensive weeks of winter testing at Pirelli’s Sottozero Centre near the Arctic Circle in Sweden.

With that said, Rimac engineers have spent time testing at night when temperatures were at their most extreme where systems like ABS, ESP and torque-vectoring were fine-tuned. The Pirelli Sottozero Centre has also enabled the team to put the recommended Pirelli P Zero Winter tyres to the test as part of the partnership between the two entities.

Depending on the climate, the Rimac Nevera can also be fitted with standard ‘summer’ Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubbers.

According to Mate Rimac, the CEO of the Rimac Group, the cold weather testing process was an opportunity to put the final 0.1% of polish on the Nevera, ensuring it’s perfect as soon as their owners begin to receive them in just a couple of months.

“Even after two weeks spent at temperatures of about -15°C, and a fairly demanding testing regime, our validation prototype performed at 100% throughout, so we know that all our core systems can perform reliably even in extreme conditions”, he said.

The Rimac Nevera has already been put through years of simulation and testing and it has already passed USA and EU homologation tests.

It’s powered by four electric motors that produce a total of 1,427 kW and 2,360 Nm enabling the hypercar to accelerate silently from 0-100 km/h in 1.8 seconds before hitting the top speed at 412 km/h.

The Nevera is designed, engineered, and built in-house at Rimac Automobili and only 150 units will be built worldwide. It was recently crowned the Best Electric Performance Car at the TopGear Electric Car Awards 2022.
