Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Volante Shows its Stunning Face
Back in January, Aston Martin pulled back the covers off its coupe version of the DBS 770 Ultimate, which marked the end of the DBS nameplate, and at that time, the marque hinted at a drop-top version.
About three months later, the Gaydon-based manufacturer is filling the gap by introducing the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante, a convertible variant that packs the same twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 powerplant with 574 kW and 900 Nm, making it one of the most potent models to ever come out of Aston Martin.
The engine is paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission that hurries from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds before running out of steam at 340 km/h. By comparison, the coupe variant hurtles from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Like its coupe counterpart, the Volante rides on 21" wheels available in three finishes; satin silver, black satin or satin black (there's undoubtedly some elegant distinction) with a diamond-turned finish. These are home to standard DBS ceramic stoppers that measure 410x38 mm at the front axle and 360x32 mm at the back.
The interior remains similar to the coupe's, thanks to Sports Plus Seats trimmed in full semi-aniline leather and Alcantara with performance seats offered as options.
Only 199 units of the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante will be produced, and word on the streets states that all units have been spoken for.
Rumours also suggest that the DBS nameplate could resurrect as a fully-electric vehicle in the coming years as AM prepares to become a fully-committed EV brand by 2030.
