Following the launch of the new fully-electric 500 model, Fiat has announced that it’s committed to becoming a fully-electric marque by 2030.
The manufacturer further states that it plans to phase out all ICE vehicles from 2025 going forward.
According to Fiat CEO, Olivier François, the product line-up will gradually become electric-only and this will be a radical change for the brand.
“The decision to launch the new 500 – electric and electric alone – was actually taken before Covid-19. Even then, we were already aware that the world could not take any more compromises. We were reminded of the urgency of taking action, of doing something for the planet Earth.”
There is still very limited information regarding the future EVs, however, Fiat says production will not only be limited to city cars - which gives us an idea that the brand could be planning even bigger electric models.
Fiat also promises to better the availability of charging stations as well as increase the number of fast-charging facilities.
Furthermore, it is reported that the well-known rooftop racetrack on Fiat’s old Lingotto factory will soon get a green transformation as well.
