The current fourth generation Kia Sportage is due for replacement soon and that has prompted the Korean marque to duly whet our appetite with the reveal of the fifth generation model.
With the official launch only earmarked for later in the year, there isn’t much information available at this stage regarding engine specifications headed to our shores. However, what we can ascertain is that the new Kia Sportage boasts sharper design cues as well as refined body elements.
“Reinventing the Sportage gave our talented design teams a tremendous opportunity to do something new; to take inspiration from the recent brand relaunch and introduction of EV6 to inspire customers through modern and innovative SUV design. With the all-new Sportage, we didn’t simply want to take one step forward but instead move on to a different level in the SUV class,” commented Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center.
On the outside, the new Kia Sportage features a detailed-orientated black grille graphic stretching across the width of the face, the infamous Tiger Nose grille, restyled daytime running lights as well as a more pronounced front bumper.
A first in the Sportage range is a black roof with a different colour paint option for the body. The rear is bolstered with the addition of a chrome beltline, large lower graphic bumper, a rear spoiler plus razor rear lamps that are connected by a slim horizontal design.
Inside, the new Kia Sportage houses a sculpted integrated curved display with a slim touchscreen pad as well as detailed 3D air vents.
The centre console is finished in high-end gloss while providing storage, operating system configuration, cupholders and soft-touch switches. The interior finishing options include chrome and pad print.
The local availability, as well as local specifications, will be made available in due course.
