Ford Tourneo priced for SA
Following its brief appearance at the Nampo Harvest Day Festival in the Free State earlier this year alongside its business-focused Transit van, Ford’s new Tourneo has finally been slapped with a price tag for the local market.
Launched in 2013 as Ford's bigger people carrier, the Tourneo may not be a popular choice in the segment, as it competes with well-established rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz Vito, Hyundai Staria, Kia Carnival, and Volkswagen Transporter.
Despite that, it remains a spacious, well-equipped, easy-to-drive model. With the introduction of the new one, it’s poised to become another formidable contender in the fold.
Getting straight to the price tag, Ford asks a R1,070,000 premium for its sole Trend LWB model, which is fitted with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine with 100kW of power and 360Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
With seating for up to eight passengers, the Tourneo features a stylish cabin that caught our attention when we first encountered it at Nampo earlier in the year, sharing several traits with Ford's other commercial vehicles. It features a 13-inch central touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 4 system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an optional wireless charger, and a new 12-inch instrument cluster.
Space upfront has also been enhanced, thanks to a column-mounted shifter, which frees up more knee and leg room while also making ingress and egress considerably easier.
When it comes to safety, it boasts features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, evasive steering assist, forward collision warning, reverse brake assist, ABS, EBD, and EBA, as well as a total of six airbags.
Despite the Tourneo’s relatively understated presence in the market, it stands out as a practical choice for families who prefer alternatives to SUVs.
Included in the pricing is a 4-year/120,000km warranty, 4-year/unlimited distance Roadside Assistance, and 5-year/unlimited distance corrosion warranty.
