While the idea of building a convertible Land Rover Defender hasn’t been a topic the British marque is yet prepared to indulge in, a Dutch Coachbuilder by the name of Heritage Customs has built one.
Based on the Land Rover Defender 90, the convertible variant also comes with a new identity and it’s now called Valiance.
By the look of things, the biggest change here when compared with the normal Defender is the chopped roof and everything else outside still remains the same. The Valiance comes in light green body colour, grey bumpers, 20” while ‘Space Cowboy’ steel wheels while the soft top gets sand beige shade.
Buyers can have it in three themes and colour combinations; Côte d’Azur, Solihull Sand, and Kokkini Paralia.
Inside, there are copper accents and depending on your taste, the classic-styled seats and steering wheel can be fitted as options.
Then there is the price. Heritage Customs charges about $91,754 to convert the Defender 90 which is approximately R1,440,064 but if you include the 90’s standard price of R1,215,900, you could end up paying about R2,655,964. Yikes.
For now, Heritage Customs has only committed to building five units of the Valiance.
