Volkswagen has again revealed the first-near production sketches of its new Amarok bakkie.
When it finally debuts before the end of the year, the new VW Amarok will feature numerous driver assistance systems that are new in the bakkie segment as well as better off-road characteristics than the outgoing model.
The fresh new teaser images showcase Amarok’s distinctive and clear design features, thanks to sharpened design cues.
“We emphasise the different, expressive front designs of our pick-up with a charismatic Amarok signature that can also be found in the form of very large lettering on the cargo box at the rear. It is sported very proudly by the Amarok”, says Albert-Johann Kirzinger, head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
“Needless to say, a Euro-sized pallet fits between the wheel housings again – and of course, loads of items can be safely secured.”
“The styling bar as a visual extension of the double cab in the cargo box once again gives the Amarok’s body dynamic, aerodynamic and very strong proportions”.
In terms of dimensions, the new VW Amarok now measures 100 mm longer than the outgoing model and that definitely translated to more room inside.
Like before, the new VW Amarok will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine but exact power outputs remain coy at this stage.
The new VW Amarok is built on the same platform as the upcoming Ford Ranger and both models will be built at the Ford Silverton Plant in Pretoria.
